Raising Digital ID Concerns

I have raised my concerns with the Secretary of State about the government's proposals to force law-abiding citizens to hold a digital ID card.

The government initially said the reason for the digital ID scheme was to stop illegal immigrants from breaking the law. When we pointed out that it will cost billions yet not address the issue it claims to solve, they expanded their reasons to say the digital ID cards will enable easier access to public services and greater control over one’s own data.

The Secretary of State could not even confirm how much this policy will cost. With the Budget coming in November, they should not be committing to more unfunded costs.
