It was a pleasure to visit Sleaford's Banking Hub recently. Thank you to Lee and Shauna from the Post Office and Claire from Cash Access UK for all their hard work and for providing an excellent service for local people.
The Banking Hub project was first commissioned by Cash Access UK last year following a recommendation for a hub by LINK, who carry out assessments when there is a change to the level of cash access in a community, after the announcement of the Lloyds and Halifax bank closures in the town. The Financial Services and Markets Act 2023 legislates for this access to cash which is very important to keep access to in-person banking services on our high streets.
It was great to speak to Lee and Shauna from the Post Office who are overseeing the hub, and have put a great amount of work and time into getting the hub up and running and ensuring customers have a great service in Sleaford. Their role and work with the wider banking team is vital in providing a welcoming area for customers to carry out regular cash transactions and a private space to talk to their own bank about more complicated banking issues.
The location at 4 Millstream Square is the temporary space for now, as Cash Access UK is currently working to secure a long term home for the hub, which will offer the same services. Updates will be provided as soon as possible
