Today I met Dentistry Minister Stephen Kinnock MP with fellow Lincolnshire MPs to make the case for the University of Lincoln to receive the necessary Government funding to establish a Lincolnshire dental school.
We highlighted to the Minister how important it is for Lincolnshire, and discussed how the University's plans will bring the training into various dental facilities across our county and benefit our constituents.
I'm pleased that the Minister stressed his agreement that a Lincolnshire dental school is a good idea and is looking at ways the places could be funded. I'm keen to ensure places are available as soon as possible and this meeting is another step in the right direction. The plans are with the General Dental Council and will then go to the Privy Council for final sign off at which point we need money from the Government so that the University can deliver these places.
I'm grateful to the Minister for meeting with us. I'll be continuing to back the University of Lincoln's plans and press the Government to support them and make this happen.
