Great to catch up with Cash Access UK about the Banking Hub coming soon to Sleaford.
What is a Banking Hub?
Banking Hubs are shared facilities where multiple banks provide in-person services and ensure communities continue to have access to essential banking services following branch closures. The hubs offer services from routine banking transactions to private, face-to-face consultations with representatives from five major banks on a rotating basis.
Why is Sleaford getting a Banking Hub?
In January 2025, LINK completed an assessment of cash access in Sleaford. This assessment was done because the Halifax and Lloyds branches are expected to close soon.
Part of LINK's role is to make sure communities have the right services to access cash locally. Whenever there is a change in how people access cash locally - such as a branch closure, or where an ATM closes, they do an assessment based on a process and measures agreed by the major banks.
They recommended the permanent provision of a Banking Hub. More information on the Hub that will be coming to Sleaford can be found here: https://www.cashaccess.co.uk/hubs/sleaford-lincolnshire/
When and where will the Banking Hub be established in Sleaford?
The Banking Hub is in the process of being established in Sleaford, and further details on which major banks will be providing community bankers will be announced in due course. It is expected by January 2026.
I understand that Cash Access UK are currently in the process of obtaining a property. If a permanent site is not set up before the beginning of 2026, a temporary site (for example within an existing community building) will be installed to ensure there is no gap in provision before the permanent site is up and running.
I am pleased that the Banking Hub is coming to Sleaford soon and I will keep constituents updated with the progress.
