It's great news that the Legal Orders for the North Hykeham Relief Road have formally been approved by the Secretary of State.
I welcome that another step has been made in the process. Construction is due to begin next year subject to final approval. We now await the final approval and the official appointment of the contractor.
The NHRR will remove unwelcome heavy vehicle traffic from our communities, ease congestion, complete the ring road around Lincoln, increase connectivity in the wider region and deliver £350 million in economic benefits over the next sixty years. It will also unlock housing and employment opportunities and strengthen the wider transport network. Having initially secured Government funding for the scheme, I am pleased to see it’s progressing.
