Dentistry Update

I have been campaigning to get a dental school in Lincolnshire for several years and we are making progress. I always work cross-party where it will help to deliver for constituents. I am pleased this letter has support of all my Conservative colleagues in Lincolnshire and Lincoln's MP Hamish Falconer.

The University of Lincoln and local stakeholders have been doing really great work over the past few years and are now in a position to offer dental school places from 2027. Clearly this would be really good for constituents. We have therefore written to the Health Secretary today in our support of the University's Medical School and to encourage the Government to provide the University with an allocation of dental school places in the upcoming NHS Long Term Workforce Plan.

Having a dental school won't just increase the workforce for the future - it will increase the number of dentist appointments locally as students will be able to deliver appointments under supervision too. We also know that people are more likely to stay where they train.

I am working with the University to try and ensure that one of the training hubs is in my constituency.
