Having campaigned for lifts and accessibility measures at Sleaford station for some time, I was pleased it was included on the list of schemes for early development by the previous Government.
The Minister for Rail wrote to me in March, assuring me that Network Rail would be conducting feasibility works at the station. However, I spoke with Network Rail this week and they are stuck and still awaiting the funding to do these works.
I have pressed the Secretary of State look into this and ensure that the works go ahead as soon as possible. Following my question in the House, the Secretary of State has further confirmed to me that she will look into this matter.
In her answer in the Commons, it was disappointing that she said that she does not anticipate that all 50 of the schemes identified will receive funding to be built. I’ll keep pressing the Government to give Sleaford station the go ahead for much needed improvements for local people.
