It is deeply disappointing that we have not received a response from the Home Secretary or her Department to a joint letter we sent about the urgency and precarity of Lincolnshire Police's financial situation over a month ago.
I, Rt Hon Sir John Hayes CBE MP, Sir Edward Leigh MP for Gainsborough, Rt Hon Victoria Atkins MP, Alicia Kearns MP, Gareth Davies MP and Richard Tice MP have therefore sent another letter to the Home Secretary to emphasise the seriousness of this matter.
We made clear on 11 July that Lincolnshire Police will have no choice but to progress with detrimental reductions in officer and staff numbers in October if the long-term support required from the Department is not forthcoming. We have again requested that the Home Secretary meet with us urgently to discuss how these funding issues can be resolved to ensure the sustainability of safe and effective policing in Lincolnshire.
