Backing Independent Businesses in Sleaford and North Hykeham

We are lucky to have a great variety of independent shops, hospitality venues and businesses in our market towns and villages, and I will continue to champion our high streets in the House of Commons.

I welcome that the Government are cutting business rates by at least 50 per cent this year for 90 per cent of retail, hospitality and leisure businesses, and freezing all rates. Combined with Small Business Rates Relief, this is a business tax cut worth £7 billion for over 700,000 eligible businesses – the biggest business rates cut in 30 years.

Backing Small Businesses

This weekend I celebrated #SmallBusinessSaturday by visiting some of our excellent independent shops in Sleaford. We have a number of very good family-run small independent shops with lots of quality items to choose from and I was able to get something special for every member of my family.

Welcoming Local Investment in Culture and Heritage Attractions

Fantastic news announced today that the Government's £1.57 billion Culture Recovery Fund will benefit three excellent local heritage organisations as part of our massive rescue package to save jobs, support culture and aid recovery.

Visiting Heckington Windmill

I visited beautiful Heckington Windmill to discuss proposals currently under consideration by the Government to fortify flour with folic acid, as I'm aware that this poses a challenge for traditional heritage windmills.
