Championing Our Rural Economy and Farming Communities

During my large-scale solar farms debate in Parliament today, I highlighted how the concerns about these local proposals in our area of Lincolnshire are deeply felt and widespread.

The Government has opened the Farming Recovery Fund to support farmers affected by the recent flooding.

Under the scheme, eligible farmers, including those in Lincolnshire, can access grants of between £500 and £25,000 to support them following the severe flooding.

A project upstream of Holdingham will be receiving funding to develop a Natural Flood Management Scheme. The plans include reducing the chance and impact of flooding from the Field Beck and surface water to local properties and key infrastructure, such as the A15.

At the NFU conference today, the PM and Environment Secretary have announced a range of measures to boost productivity and resilience in the farming sector, including the largest ever grant offer for farmers in the coming financial year, expected to total £427 million.

Gareth Davies MP and I were pleased to welcome the Rt Hon Mark Spencer MP, Minister for Food, Farming and Fisheries, to Lincolnshire where we met with local farmers, the Environment Agency, the NFU, Lincolnshire Police and council representatives.

I met with representatives from the Internal Drainage Board at the Digby Pumping Station following the recent floods.

I recently met with representatives from villages affected by the Fosse Green Energy Solar Farm proposal covering 2,500 acres in the Witham St Hughs/ Thorpe on the Hill/ Bassingham / Norton Disney/ Aubourn area of my constituency.
